Mother Nature Is A Furious Woman

Personally, I'm Rather Glad The Storm Passed
Hey! You! Get Off 'O My Cloud!
The Storm of Life
Is This Your Black Cloud?
Get Off Of My Cloud - Rolling Stones, 1967
Strange Weather All Over The World - It's Not Nice, To Fool the Humans
Mother Nature, you are not a nice woman. You come into existance, yelling and screaming with your power. We dodge, we fight, we lose. You always win. And, why not? You make the rules.
The battle with Mother Nature is a furious one. She fools us with small battles, letting us taste the victor's power. She throw's in some fakers, too. Just when you've worked hours preparinig, she turns the corner. Scaring you into evacuating, she barely sneezes. Fooling the young is her biggest thrill.
"Don't prepare," she whispers. "It's nothing. Hardly a breeze." She keeps her word, the storm is a baby. The young then feel so confident, that their level of preparation drops to nill.
Oh, she's very smart and crafty, skilled in patience. Time is on her side. What does she care about the clock? She is forever youthful and energetic.
Wham, Bam, thank you m'am. Quick and evil, she prepares for the kill. Katrina strikes with full venom. For years, people did nothing to prepare, having been victims of fakers. We were warned. It's so hard to think of flooding rains and destruction, when you're on dry land. Sometimes, humans are not forward thinkers. Predicting outcomes is a skill we lack, because it's often unpleasant. So, our brain turns off, and we slack. Mother Nature wins again; that accomplished wicked step-mother.
Where will she strike next? Under any name, she is unpredictably the same. A contradiction waiting to happen. No one knows her, not really. With flirtatious ways, she sucks us in to her trap.
Doppler Radar tries to get acquainted. Keeping up with recent diagnosis, is extremely time consuming and difficult. Which story or model do we believe? What will be the hurricane's path? Where will torandoes fall?
What I'd like to know, is who ticked her off? I'm just an average American on the ground, what did I do?? What did any of us do? Isn't there enough crisis in the world without the addition of Hell's Fury?
Would that we could contain her power and direct it where it might wipe out some Al Queda.
Ok, wishful thinking. Still, wouldn't that be loverly. Or push a strong wind over into Pakistan and blow up Bin Laden's skirt. That should give him a bit of exposure, eh?
Or even, puff on over to the White House, and blow out some of the cobwebs in Bush/Cheney's brain, allowing them some clear-headed thinking for a change. Naaa, too late for that. Wait, I know!
I've got a few people to whom I'd like to send a black cloud to hang over their head...well, geeze, I'm not perfect. Can't you think of a few people to mess with? An old boss, an old lover, someone? If not, you're living the good life. I don't want to wipe 'em out exactly, just get them wet. REALLY wet.
Okay, I repent. (uhhh, that might be an "untruth.")
Update: Stormy Fay is pulling a fast one!! Just like the faker I talked about...she's turning the corner and coming back at us! Mother Nature stabs us in the back, she's not to be trusted.
Well, where would you send a storm?

I can't think of anyone I'd like to see stormed on.. except maybe for that bank manager that turned down that loan.. or that guy that stole my parking the other day when it was pouring down with rain.. or my last boyfriend that downgraded to that blonde-bimbo with more boob on her than a cow with busting udders.. okay.. laid back I'm not.. wow.. just like mother nature I have a vengeful side.. who'da thunk it.. lol..

Yaaay.. I'm not as challenged as I thought!
I am concerned.
I do not know what you mean by an old lover.
I have never had one. Is it a new sundae ice cream?
This was a fun read. Love the pictures and captions. And boy has Mother nature been pissed off lately.
She gets us even when she doesn't drop by for visits. Closed schools and businesses, loss of pay, buying emergency supplies, filling water jugs, lugging all the patio and plants inside -- only to find it was all for nothing, just a light shower and less wind than a normal afternoon thunderstorm. Now, we get to play the guessing game of -- do we put everything back outside or cancel plans for the weekend. I think it's more than pissing her off -- I think she hates us! Great hub!
Personally I think we are
being warned to prepare for the return of the Christ....It has been predicted storms...fires..floods..earthquakes...and war..dishonesty...and on and on...
But if I were to send a storm to anyone it would be to my own careless mistakes, my own unforgiving mind...and my own lack of Faith...
Nice Hub as usual sweetie..you are great and thanks for letting us release...G-Ma :o) hugs
Fun hub, I love Mother Nature, we have the latest equipment to predict its fury so we can take cover. But I think mankind does more harm than nature, atleast there is revival and growth after destruction with Mother Nature. Poets need Nature anyways :)
I love this it's really great and I agree with you totally
Actually Shakespeare also used storms as writing device. In King Lear he has Lear say "Blow winds, Rage" whn he has been abondonred by his children.
Mother Nature is awesome and fearsome . No respecter of Man or his feeble structures. tornadoes, hurricanes, Tsunamis, Volcanoes and earthquakes are all a consequence of mother nature.
Great Hub Marisue and yet again different.
Well.. if you live in Auckland.. which I do.. you'll have grown up knowing just how fickle Mother Nature is. Crowded House wrote a song called "Four Seasons in One Day". I'm certain they were talking of Auckland weather.. sigh.
Well, you've had a fortunate wind, regarding this hub. It's sailing graciously to the top of the hot hubs, temperature is rising! :)
Yes Marisue I was away last weekend. I will be away this weekend and next weekend too. So there will be some gaps. you miss so much when you are not in contact.
Thank you Marisue much appreciated
I think Mother Nature is very "Motherly" and has provided a paradise of plenty for all her animals and plants but unfortunately humans have failed to appreciate what they were given by their mother and have instead carved up her body, cut down her trees, poisoned her waters and air, rendered countless of her creatures and plants extinct and basically waged a war against Her! It is a wonder she has not been a lot more savage and hasn't chosen to remove us! But as a Mother she hates to harm her children and so the problem has continued. If people do not learn to respect their home, their Mother and the other life forms we share the world with then we only have ourselves to blame for not living in the harmony that this world was meant to be!
I think of George Carlin,
"Humans are a surface infestation and Mother earth will shake us off like a bad case of Fleas"
TMG
I think it shows too that humans are not anywhere near as intelligent as they think they are! There is no other species on the planet that endangers it's own survival and that of countless other species so where is the intelligence in that?
And even if by some miracle billions of people start to realise the mess the human way of living has made and want to change it it will take a very long time for people to learn to abandon all their expected consumerist comforts! It could be done though and the alternative power sources could be brought into common use. The natural environment repairs itself fast as soon as humans cease destroying it although it may have to become a new habitat eg a desert where desert plants and animals can live. This would happen where the forests have gone and the land eroded and most of the soil nutrients washed away - new plants and creatures would colonise the degraded environment but it is at such a very great loss of diversity!
Who Killed the Electric Car? Find out here:
I truly enjoyed the hub but I really love the Rooster over water photo. That just makes my day. Am I just a projecting male or is that rooster being followed by every beautiful hen on the farm? Lucky fellow. Cluck cluck that rooster is in luck. Oh gawd that was pathetic.

Well, Mother Nature has always been tempermental. I see it her nature to be so. But we should remember.. this is her house. I'd be more than a little pissed if someone dumped crap in my water or cut down one third of my plants or kept smoking in my lounge. All we can do I suppose is 'be prepared'. We've heard the warnings for years and years and ignored them like the boy that cried 'wolf'. We'll the wolf is knocking on the door. Do we let him blow down the house and say.. 'oh... I didn't think it would be for real this time'..
I kinda dig the storms.. their power, their energy.. yes its annoying that I can't get my freakin washing dried but hey, thats what a dryer is for.. (which by the way uses up more energy.. um.. mom nature we're in a bit of a circle there!), but I can live with storms.. I can even live with picking up after the massive storms.. its tiresome... hard work and heart breaking at the loss of property, time and money.. but (I'm a tad 'lets look on the upside' kinda mood this morning).. think of the new stuff you can get.. or repainting the house.. or finally getting that new roof you'd been nagging at the hub to do for the last 15 yrs.. (this is not a mock at the folks that have suffered great loss at the hands of Mother Nature, truly!)
Any way.. where would I send the storm? Well.. there are a few desert patches that could do with them.
I like your hub Marisue.. makes a person ponder.. awesome =)
