Obama's Just A Man, A Good Man, Not The Anti-Christ
60
Here I am To Save the Day!
I Can Still Tell The Difference Between Light and Dark
Look, I'm not an expert, let's make that clear. Not that I even had to say it, but I wanted to show some humility, which in my humble opinion some people are lacking, as they call our newly elected President, Barack Obama, the most evil of names.
Obama is not the boogey man.
If you know one and one is two, then you ought to be able to figure this out. Why are we fearing common sense? The end of time may be near, I don't know. I have a pretty keen sense of reasoning and discernment, and I just know that unless God wants to trick us all, he's not going to run the "anti-christ" against an unqualified Vice President candidate who has only the power of ridiculous thinking, and a Presidential choice of a person who has poor thinking skills and reasoning ability, and absolutely no ability to help this nation out of our current crisis. If the Anti-Christ is ever going to be on the Presidential ticket, the choice is going to be harder than anyone can imagine; 2 up and shining people, decisions, decisions, decisions! It's going to be really hard to tell, and even then I don't think we're all going to be fooled. After all, how can God say "Why didn't you choose Joe Six Pack here, instead of Golden Angel?" if He doesn't give us a way to tell who's who?
Would you say to your child, "Choose Pepper." And, then punish your child for choosing Sugar, when it looked just like Pepper?
And, anyway, don't you think the AC is going to have a less scarey name, like Joe Six Pack, or Joe the Plumber, or George or John or Bill or Bob, or Dick? I'd be much more worried if we had elected someone named Steve, even.
This last choice was clearly a difference between candidates. You could even say we had the choice between "good" vs "evil" if you desire, but that should especially show you Obama is not the Anti-Christ! When we choose between the Anti-Christ and "Good," we won't be able to see the difference very easily.
The lines will be blurred between good and bad; not indistinguishable, but blurred. These lines were not blurred. If you were for McCain, you would probably agree that to you, the lines were not blurred. When we make the choice between the AC, and the Good Guy, even choosing the Good Guy we will admit the choice is difficult. McCain supporters do not believe the choice was difficult nor do the Obama supporters. No blurred lines.
How do I know? Do I have a hot line to heaven? Do I have the magical blueprint of the future? Yes and no. My hotline helps me with my own life, not the nation's. My blueprint of the future helps me with my own life, not the nation's, not your life. Beyond helping others in general, we're the pilot of our own ship, not the world.
You see, unless you're a prophet, you just don't speak for the world however, God will give you information, but I don't think we can put a lot of meaning into it beyond that of your own life.
Here's the deal, and I'll keep it simple and brief, as I'll probably lose your attention soon, because who cares what Marisue thinks? I don't blame you, it's ok, we're just talking here, right?
Truth is reason. Therefore, let us be reasonable.
It is reasonable to think the following:
- When the antichrist comes, he's going to be up against a really good other choice, so much so, that it will be very difficult to decipher between 2 good choices of whatever it is that we are choosing. After all, are we sure the AntiChrist is going to be the President of the US? Well, for this dicussion, let's assume so. If the AC (anti-christ) was going to be the choice between him and a bad choice, then God is tricking us by saying "You're screwed either way. Either choose the bad guy, or choose the Anti-Christ...that's the deal." I think it's safe to assume God's not going to trick us. I think it's also sensible to assume that McCain/Palin was not the good choice, since one can barely speak coherently, well wait, neither could speak coherently...in any case, the lines of choices were not blurred. I know I've said that several times now, but it's the main point.
- Next, let's take a look at Obama. He's smart, he's sensible, he has a plan, he wants to help. Granted, we're not used to that lately. But having a brain and will power and discipline is not bad, it's just strange to see it in the White House. Why is the world so involved and hopeful? Because we have global issues. NOT because Obama has cast a devil spell on the world. It matters who is President this time, more than ever, as Bush (who was not such a good thing for America - if we want to talk "evil" we might be able to go down that road for many miles) has sliced and diced our economy, our relationships in the world, our security, our energy, our jobs, and ignored everything he didn't destroy. Good choice for the country? We can hardly think so.
- We can not stand the mistakes McCain and Palin would have brought to this country with her lack of knowledge, and McCain's erratic thinking, so it's pretty safe to say that even though you may really like them, it's just not reasonable to say that's the best God could come up with to run against the Anti-Christ. Sorry, but it's reasonable to think we're going to have a harder decision than this past one, when the time comes.
- Obama was elected by a good majority, and we have hope but we're not hypnotically going about the day praising him incessantly. Not only will there be false Gods, but I think we might expect, by contrast, a few false devils and accusations of evil.
As concerned citizens we have obligations:
1. Obama is a thinker. All Obama's team members are thinkers. The Anti-Christ will be a thinker. Not all thinkers are an Anti-Christ. True or False? True. Come on, logic 101.
2. We need not fear all thinkers. Our country needs thinkers. It would be good if we didn't spread gloom and doom while trying to espouse vast religious knowledge of evil incarnate. Any knowledge we possess will be for guiding our own life, not the world. Be glad you didn't get that job, and I for one am glad you didn't get that job. I'm not willing to follow anyone just because they quote scripture. The scriptures are full of reasons not to do that.
3. Instead of worrying about the sky falling, occupy yourself with ways to be a good citizen by helping someone. If I'm wrong and we're all doomed, tricked by a God who gave us one choice of merely appearing to be good, and one choice of a truly confused candidate, and you're then caught up in the air in the middle of helping someone, where's the wrong?
4. While you're on earth, write your Congressman. Stay aware of issues that pertain to your life. That's good.
5. Why not decide to help the President? How nice it would be to drop Obama a supportive note and say, "Do your best, let me know how I can help the nation in our time of need." And then listen for his answer. Even God would tell you that's a good thing to do, yes?
6. If you could do something to help the nation, instead of wasting time scaring the less secure, what would you like to do? How about asking your God for help deciding? I'm pretty confident God's going to say "help your neighbor, let me take care of the world." God always likes us to start at home, don't you think?
I used to have the "onry-est" Uncle. I never think of him that I don't remember how he spent his time with me. He never asked about my day, or helped my blind mother, or gave my dad a helping hand, or told me what he did that helped another. I really don't remember him ever doing anything that impressed me.
However, he was really good at taking advantage of my childhood fears and scaring me to death with his spooky stories. True or not, he told them. He got some strange pleasure out of preaching gloom and doom and fear. What good did he bring about? Did I or anyone else ever feel better for his presence or words? Was anyone lifted up? Changed for the better, enlightened?
No. I lost sleep, avoided him and the only thing he taught me was that fear divides, cuts away from the whole, and gives no strength.
If you're determined to believe the Anti-Christ is alive and well and staying in Chicago for now, here are
Simple Solutions to living when the Anti-Christ reigns:
- Do good work. Try to help others.
- Be of good cheer and spread it around.
- Love each other and especially your family.
- Clean your house. Well, that matters.
- Be true to those you love. That matters more.
- Quit looking for Evil, it only begets more of it.
- Be prepared, even if the world isn't quite ready for the rapture, we may go to our reward sooner than we think. No one owns tomorrow, on earth.
- Realize we, yes each of us, could be wrong.
- Because we could be wrong, and make mistakes, be humble.
- Realize good isn't spread while spreading fear or calling people really strong names, when we could, after all, BE WRONG.
- And, might I add these 5 questions: 1) "Don't you feel the tiniest bit bad about calling this man such a horrible name? 2)Don't you even think that if you're wrong, you're really doing harm? 3)And, if you're right, what strength are you lending to the situation? 4)And since you are more likely to be wrong, than right, don't you think you should be part of the solution to America's problems, instead of calling a man probably the worst name in history? 5)Would you have even considered calling him the name I can barely make myself say, if he was white, a republican? 6) Don't you even feel a litle bit ridiculous and ashamed of yourself?" Sorry, that was 6 questions. This man is a father and husband. You should feel more than ashamed, what you are doing is just plain wrong...maybe evil.
Where to spend your time, when time is short? Helping someone, what a nice thought.
-Obama, this average American on the ground has got your back. Hang in there and while you dedicate your life and sacrifice your time to clean up the Bush Crumbs, I'll hold the dustpan.

You are right - he is neither the so called anti christ or a secret (fill in the blank) agent. When some people invest their entire lives into making a prophecy come true, they see the "signs" everywhere, even in the sun in the morning and the moon at night.
Since when did Christianity take such a weird and strange turn to the gloomy side?
Cheers!
Chef Jeff
Cheers to that.
Hey marisue, is this true? Are people really saying Obama is the antichrist? I don't know whether to laugh or cry. The world get's weirder by the minute. Well ay least I know you're sane....
The 'shadow' Obama is the Anti Christ hub. Love it!
Marisue - Its going to be a difficult task but yet Iam hopeful and not gloomy about the future.
CJ- Yes there are some hubs which conclude that obama is the "antichrist" and that is a very worrying thought: http://hubpages.com/hub/antichristourtime?comment=
I don't know whether to feel angry or sad, at the ignorance of some folks who spread fear because they cannot handle the new. I am happy you wrote this hub- its like a light of reason entering the dark halls of fear and boggy man stories. I wonder how Obama and his family feel in being called the Anti Christ- he may be very professional, but he is human; guess he knew that there would be support but also great resistance in his becoming a President by the segment of our society that does not embrace diversity.
Oh marisue- I don’t know anyone who claims Obama is the anti-christ. And though I did not vote for him, he is my president now, and I will give him my full support.
That said; when he pursues legislation that I do not agree with I will be the first to speak up. I am still curious to know what he plans to do with the detainees in Gitmo when he closes the facility.
I do fear that his ideas will not be beneficial to the country, and I am very worried about his potential Supreme Court appointments.
Time will tell whether Obama is able to live up to the hype, and for the sake of this country, I hope you are right. The fact that he is bringing back nearly the entire Clinton cabinet gives me pause. Maybe Sandy Berger can get those FBI files back into the archives now without stuffing them into his pants.
This is definitely not the kind of change I was expecting.
Marisue, you might find this interesting:
"The coming of the Antichrist was tensely awaited during the middle ages.. In 1096 Pope Urban said that, since the tyrant's arrival was imminent and the Holy Land would be the centre of his power, it was crucial that Christians expel the Moslems from Jerusalem. Thus he launched the First Crusade.
"Then, Satan became ‘the father of the Jews’, and bloody persecution ensued. But while most people believed that the Antichrist was to be a Jew, there were many who believed that he would be the son of a bishop or a nun... and an anticlerical movement was born.
"During the Reformation it comes as no surprise to discover that Protestants regarded the Pope as the Antichrist while Catholics considered him to be Luther."
Do you see a pattern, lol?!!
Teddy Roosevelt's name added up to 666 or something, so he was Satan and Kennedy and even Jimmy Carter then Reagan were called the Anti-Christ. Go figure.
The bottom line is: the anti-Christ will do things that are anti Christ, i.e., against what Christ would have done. Logically speaking, Obama can't be the anti-Christ unless he is filled with hate or revenge or he is anti-love and compassion, which he is not. He seeks to unite rather than to divide.
I read and thought a lot about this, because the allegations I heard came from people who talk about God all the time and I wanted to figure it out the best I could.
One article I found while researching this admonished Christians: "we are specifically told in 2 Peter 1:20 “…that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation.”
Man's ability to assign the title, "antiChrist" to any person is not advisable because we can't possibly have all the information! We cannot know the mind of God, so why try to second guess it? We could end up with more witch hunts, etc.
Thanks for addressing mankind's disturbing tendency to externalize our very personal evil tendencies. I admire your passion. (Oops, sorry this is so long. I didn't realize until I printed it out that I had gotten a bit carried away. You obviously hit a chord.)
All I can say is "God Bless America...the land that I Love...Stand beside her and guide her"...you know the rest??...G-Ma :o) Hugs
I believe some one is feeding themselves a load of rubbish.
I could believe if there is an Antichrist it may be Bush.
I think the next bogey man is coming from Europe. England has had her chance, America tried to be the Super Nation and now Europe is flexing their united muscles.
Nice hub, but I especially enjoyed #11 because your questions are so valid. I do not believe Obama is the AC, nor do I think we should be putting him up on a pedestal. He is one man, sure he's president-elect of the U.S., but still just one person. Change takes more than one person, so you are right that we should all start at home. It just so happens his home will be the White House (yea!). But if he can inspire more people to help create change, that makes him a pretty amazing man.
You speak for many of us frustrated by the illogical statements by those with whom we share the pew. As I stated in my hub "In Defense of Obama," I am a Christian, but even I have to wonder what some believers are smoking. That's all I'm going to say.
Thank you for this hub marisue. I was reading an essay in the NYT recently that said that every time there's a serious economic downturn it brings out end times wackiness and not too long after that people start lashing out at blacks, Jews, and anybody they perceive as different. It happened in the 1890s and again in the 1930s. Some people don't handle these kinds of challenges very gracefully.
Thanks for injecting some common sense into the whole discussion.
BTW have you read Revelations? It doesn't 'reveal' very much! lol! It reads like something somebody wrote on a bad acid trip. How anyone could get 'Obama is the anti-Christ' out of it is way beyond me!
Good hub, as always, Marisue. BUT - and you knew there would be one, didn't you? I'm concerned that all of the thinking, non-crazies who are working to talk some common sense into all the anti-christ rhetoric, though their hearts are in the right place, are simply giving more power to it. As Hollywood knows very well: there's no such thing as "bad press."
The sure-fire killer of hate is simply to ignore it. Give it no voice. Give it no serious acknowledgement. The more press it is given, the more power it will take on.
Barack Obama is a good man. His actions will debunk most of the haters. For those he doesn't, who cares? You cannot teach a closed mind.
E.M. Foster, the author of "A Passage to India," wrote a non-fiction book called, "Two Cheers For Democracy." In the preface, he said, "All governments are odious. Democracy is less odious, so two cheers for democracy, but three cheers for the Grand Republic." He goes on to describe his notion of the Grand Republic, and it turns out to be the body of people who believe and think as you have demonstrated in this hub, people with caring hearts and level headedness. For him...and for me...it is this Grand Republic that makes life worthwhile. I truly do believe we have in this president-elect Obama a member of our Grand Republic. Although, to be clear about all this, he is still a politician [which is not a bad thing to my way of thinking] and a true politician, one who practices the way a physician practices his/her talents, gifts, and abilities, must make decisions that serves the good of all. Bush was not that kind of politician, he was a false politician, he served only the good of his own kind. So, not all of us will always be happy with the way Obama will govern. We must support and trust him to be making decisions that serve the good of the nation, even if we feel our own individual interests are sometimes neglected. May all those who believe themselves to be members of the Grand Republic, please step forward.
Well done Marie-Sue,
This certainly makes far more cheerful and sensible reading than that other parcel of nonsense currently doing the rounds. Who knows what manner of President Obama will turn out to be, but he'd certainly have to go some to do worse than Bush!
Very good hub on a timely topic. There was a man who came into our work and strangled an elderly lady because he was so upset about Obama winning. He was just insistent the end of the world was coming because he knew Obama was going to win in the weeks coming up to the election, so he started to say things that scared me a little. He told me he was more righteous than other people and things like this. It was a shame because he had seemed like such a nice man up until that point, but he let the election get way into his head. I never thought he would have been the type of person to attack a nice elderly lady, but that is how crazy his thoughts became. He may have already had some mental issues in his mind, but I believe people who call anyone the anti-Christ are losing it just a little. Yes this is part of Christian belief and theology, but go take a religious course and discuss this concept, but do not accuse presidential candidates of being one. To me it comes down to the color of skin. As a Californian I spent time in Kansas and I did experience racism. I look quite a bit Arabic like my dad's side of the family and some of my family members made rude comments to me. My step-grandmother, who I feel I was never connected to, used to ask me if I was a Jew or an Arab because I did "not look like them". This same lady also used to complain about integration and a street being named after Martin Luther King. She wanted to go back to pre-1960's America and let everyone know this. I see a lot of misplaced anger in people calling Obama the anti-Christ. I also see that many tend to be Caucasian, and it is almost as if these people are calling him that because they know they cannot call him something worse, or a term that is not acceptable today. If you think Obama is not the right choice for president, then start thinking about why you feel this way. John McCain lost the election for a reason, and it has nothing to do with Obama being the anti-Christ. It was the do with McCain's policies of wanting the war in Iraq to last indefinitely and to continue many of the policies of Bush. Sadly I think our country had made several steps back when Bush came into office. Many people that used to be die hard Republican have changed their political party to Democrat because of his actions. It is one thing to love your religion and respect it, we all should respect others. However, there tends to be a right, right wing Christian extremism that is sweeping the Republican party. Each person's views in a party are influencing the perception people have of the entire party, and making nutty comments about Obama being the anti-Christ is surely not helping their cause. Most mainstream Republican may not have wanted McCain, but I hardly hear them refer to the man as the anti-Christ.
marisue, so sorry about your sons' jobs. My partner Bill lost his job here and now drives 60 miles to Grand Rapids to work--he was one of only 10 people who had enough seniority to be offered a job with the same company in another city--all the rest just lost their jobs and they shut the place down. The bank I stewed about leaving for so long went down about two week after I quit. It's getting ugly, but there is a sort of calm that comes over a person when it's something this big. We take it day by day and we'll do what we have to do--that's all anyone CAN do. All this end times stuff is so uselss and distracting. Hang in there.
I always heard that the AC was going to be from Rome. Either Italy or the area surrounding, and he was supposed to be super fair skinned and "beautiful" or someting. Top that off with virtually every theory of the antichrist being the guy who will ndoubtedly unite the world and Obama doesn't even come close.
Thanks Marisue, good hub!
Very true, no party is the best, but neither is either party closer to God. Ironically, each religious group has their own interpretation of the anti-Christ. Jehovah's Witnesses think it is all government and thus do not participate in it and the Amish also prescribe to this way of thinking. People might think it is extreme to go to this length, but I also believe it is extreme when Obama detractors call him the anti-Christ. Those Nobama tshirts and lawn signs also strike me as the same crazy type of thinking. None of this sends a positive message, but I know many people have decided not to vote Republican anymore because of it. Historically we tend to fare much better economically under Democratic presidents, at least since the end of the second world war.
Hi Marisue,
I know nothing of American politics but i find it very strange that America was at war with a muslim named Osama to electing a new president and muslim called Obama!..This is weird and wonderful, and i hope he can really make not just a change, but a change for the better!
I never would believe you being recognized as "brief." Is there a different time definition where you live? Isn't an hour the same as, like, 30 seconds every place else? (Was I supposed to just let that gem go!?) We're going to need some evidence.... In Pacific Time.
;-) I kill me!
I'm doing Ok, thanks for asking. Learning a lot about inner ear damage.
Ya, but people on the East Coast do everything slower, so time is calibrated accordingly. What you THINK is 30 seconds is really 30 minutes everywhere else. It's supposed to be a secret, known only to us West Coasters (cool name for a roller coaster!), but I couldn't help it. So, there you go. The cat's outta da bag!
Great stuff, Marisue. It is really frustrating to have all these crazy accuzations flying around. I understand why they go on like this - the psychological reasons - and still I am baffled. Thanks for writing this article. A brief note to CW, referencing something he said way up there somewhere, there is such a thing as bad press (that saying has long been a pet peeve of mine). For example, a bad review in the N.Y. Times will close a Broadway Play costing its producers millions of dollars. Now that's bad press!
I like your formula, "Simple Solutions to living when the Anti-Christ reigns:" which applies whenever AC shows up. That's fantasitic.
I'm not convinced he's a "Good Man", (he is after a all, first and foremost a politician). I have my sincere, honest, reasonable doubts that he's qualified to be president. And with his re-appointment of most of the Clinton adminitration, his "time for change" message may be best described as an exageration.
BUT ... You're right ... to call him AC is probably a bit over the top. I consider myself to be a member of the "Loyal Opposition" with as much empahsis on the word "Loyal" as "Opposition".
Obama catches Osama! i love it!!
BDazzler you posted almost my thoughts exactly. I hope that Obama can bring about the changes that many people think he will but I have serious doubts. I don't know if any President from either party can save America. And I have yet to hear him or any of the other canidates that ran mention the 33 million hungry Americans including 12 million Hungry American Children. Not one mention. They also did not mention the homeless. What about these issues. Issues that should be addressed but hardly ever are.
And you have to remember a President can only do what the Senate or Congress will allow him to do.
You Betcha!!! ;)
You know, Todd takes care of the children for me. He really is a good man and I was blessed to find him.
Sarah- You have a great wardrobe and I heard you are donating it(Can I send you my shipping address for delivery)...LOL
Marisue- You sure have become popular beyond the party lines now. So next we can have you run as the President and Sarah again as the VP in 2012...hehe
I am someone you know already on HubPages. If you promise not to tell I will email you and let you know who I really am.
I will email you later when I sign in with my other account and let you know. ;) I am also working on my first hub too. Titled "The Bridge to HubPages"
marisuewrites it is a name I chose for myself but I also use it to try to bring attention to Leonard Peltier who is a friend of mine and is in prison for a crime he did not commit. Hope you don't mind a link here.

I am Sioux , Cherokee , Irish and German a real mutt you could say.
I write to the entire Congress and Senate on almost a weekly basis. I try to be a real thorn in their sides. Hunger in America really bothers me. I think its a real shame that we have 12 million hungry children here in the USA. The Homeless also bothers me greatly. I work with them on a daily basis. I have really made the hungry and homeless my full time work. I get up every day with the ideal in mind of how can I make their life better that day. I also do work on the Sioux and Cherokee Reservations. And sometimes live there for months at a time. On the two reservations.
Sarah - Btw I haven't yet received any confirmation whether I would be a beneficiary of your donations. Last time it was Bridge to nowhere now bridge to hubpages. Is hubpages=nowhere..LOL
Marisue - I know you need the dough to keep your presidential campaign running(Its going to be the new age campaign on Hubpages like never seen before)...hehe
Right on Marisue! I think it's an abomination to call Obama this- has our society become so twisted that when someone logical and thinking comes along we have to pervert it in some way?
I totally agree with you- and I pray that people would stop looking for doom and gloom and think about helping their neighbor for a change..
geeezzz.......
Marisuewrites,
That Sarah Palin is a fakey joke profile. Just wanted to let you know :). I agree with you about the ever onward positive thinking and do not favor extremism on either side. Every Friday night come rain or shine we have protesters on both sides, and both tend to be extreme. I think it would be well if we just focused on the future and put this Bush/Cheney debacle behind us, but I suppose we have to see how things play out.
Thanks for injecting some common sense into this debate, Marisue. From my part of the world (South Africa) Obama lookslike a good man. I was really excited when he won. The first time since 1960 that I have felt excited by a US presidential election! I was totally horrified and non-plussed when the articles started surfacing calling Obama the AC. I can't believe that people can really waste their time (and other people's) on such stuff which, in any case, Jesus warned us not to get involved with.
Love and peace,
Tony
marisuewrites I am 1/2 Indian , Sioux on Tribal records. Its great that you worked with the Choctaw. I teach reading to adults on the Cherokee reservation and really enjoy it. It takes a lot for any Indians to trust but when they do they can be some of the best friends you have ever had. I collect blankets , coats etc for both the Cherokee and Sioux Reservation and they really appreciate it. I am also a member of A.I.M. ( The American Indian Movement ) and I guess some what of a radical. lol
I to would be excited Obama won but I fear what may happen. There are a awful lot of people from the Clinton Admin joining him and it really makes me wonder. We will have to wait and see what he can do. But I fear real change will not come. I don't think they will let him. We need universal health care badly and we need a new war on poverty and hunger. Most people don't know about the hungry in this country. And you know what a friend of mine told me tonight there are still 12.000 homeless living in downtown New Orleans. But no politician mentioned that either.
I though "W" was the Anti-Christ, the do nothing idiot who can't even play golf and who was selected not elected in 2,000! Now his "First (Stepford Wife) Lady", what's her name? I think her role to society was to pour tea every day for the last 2,920 days? Half way through the days her arm hurt so the black butler did it for her. Barack isn't the booggie man although I thought I saw him on a rerun of "Good Times" once, DYN-O-MITE! Maybe he might know some African Voodoo hoodoo! Lol, that would freak out the racists just a lil' bit! Voodoo economics, lol, remember that?
Jeez, listening to outsiders, I understood that George Bush was the anti-Christ. Now, I hear its Obama? Years ago i heard it was Ronald Reagan. (666 = Ronald Wilson Reagan). I don't know who to believe..I guess I'm content not to believe any of them. I gotta go contemplate some more...
Hi Marisue A breath of fresh air in all the doom and gloom conspiracy theory bunkum. I just prefer plain honest straight talking people and you are one them
LOL
Hi Mariesue, After reading one of your comments above, I got to thinking who the AC might really be if it isn't George and it isn't Mr O. Realisctically, the AC would be wasting his time meddling in politics. The world is in chaos even without his assistance. He's more likely to be some sadistic scientist somewhere designing nasty diseases to inflict on the world, or a religious leader whipping his followers up into self-righteous frenzy so that they go out and wage war on everyone that doesn't agree with them. If there is an AC he's as likely to pop up in China, or Rumania, or the Isle of Man as he is to materialise in America.
That is interesting that you should say "religious leader" Amanda. For many years, it was commonly believed, espescially when the protestant/catholic conflicts were especailly hot that the AC would be a Pope. I could make a better historical and biblical case for a few historical popes than Obama. (Still don't like him, and I don't think GWB is as bad as everybody here makes him out to be either) but ... read a few of PGRundy and Mistyhorizons hubs, at the very least it won't seem all that unreasonable.
(I'm not saying the Pope is AC ... I am saying that others have.)
Marisue - You nailed it when you said "When a person starts looking for boogey men, they will see them everywhere". Most of the times (even I have been guilty of this) we tend to look for the "truth" that we want to believe in and not what the whole truth is.
Your noble deeds like "to do good, work hard, stay healthy, take care of my family, be there for my friends and help a few strangers now and then." is something that I admire. I feel so lazy even to cook for myself sometimes and just eat milk/cereal. What is the secret of your energy? One of my cousin she had a baby and she tells me it drains her out so much. But when i see your energy to raise 200+ kids and all these other activities I wonder whether you are an ordinary woman or a 'super woman". May their be more of your kind in this world.
By the way Happy Thanksgiving.
Thanks,
CW
And who's the Antichrist then? :O There should be one, come on people, be serious! Don't tell me it's this lady on a turkey farm :D
Glad to read your hubs too, Marisue :)
To tell you the truth, I just was puzzled here, cause in my humble opinion some sick man voicing some sick ideas doesn't call for such a massive and serious response from intelligent public :)
Misha- If "intelligent public" don't raise their voice then that also is disservice in a certain. Sometimes ignoring is as bad as responding. Don't you agree?
Marisue- I have called my family and enquired if all those I know are safe in Mumbai. So far everybody is safe. Thanks for asking. But still such acts breed hatred and further violence which is the last thing we need in difficult economic times.
With around 78% of the US population claiming some form of Christianity, that gives a pool of about 235 million Christians. If even only 1% of these are extremists/zealots/dingbats (an unbelievably low call) this still gives nearly two and a half million people pushing their own particular barrow. Allowing that less than half these own and can use a computer on the net, that's still well over a million potential cranks telling us all about the Devils in the dishwater, the Reds under the bed, and the Frights in the White house. Add to that the others who don't like Obama, Father Christmas Or the Tooth Fairy because of their colour, convictions, education or some other reason that can't be expressed publicly, and I consider that we're all bloody lucky that we're not buried under an avalanche of stupidity.
I'm all for the freedom of expression allowed on the web and will fight tooth and nail for it's continuance. Let them rant on their hub-sites, visit each other, and pat each other on the back. Have a look from time to time, and put in your pennoth-worth if you wish, but don't get sucked in to haunting these sites. It pushes up their ratings. Currently our most visited hub is one of these. (Well to me it is, to others it may be the enlightenment and the truth!) If you leave them be they should fade and die. And with no-one to present a united front to, zealots often fight amongst themselves.
So, how many angels will fit on the head of a pin?
Great Hub!!! I believe we are all going to be fine, however I am glad that you gave clear instruction to those who may be in need. :) God Bless America and he has .:)
LOL CW, I think TOF just answered you question, I kinda agree to them :) There is no point in fighting people who think differently, you know :)
Stop by, make a remark if you want to, and move on... Like in this old Buddhist story about two monks and a girl - you should know it better than me :)
MANKIND
Men, said the Devil, are good to their brothers:they don’t want to mend their own ways, but each other's.By Piet Hein,
His grooks tell it all:
TOF- Glad you bring a sane perspective in such times. Now I know there is a bright mind hiding behind that cat outfit...LOL
Misha- I know that two monks story(you seem to have that girl's hangover)...hehe. Yes, you maybe right we can sometimes try too hard but never succeed in making some people see alternate perspective.
Hey-hey, this should be another story, there was no hangover in mine :) Care to tell yours?
Misha- Two monks (who have taken lifelong oath of celibacy) were crossing a river with strong current. One of the monk sees a young woman struggling in the water and helps her cross to the other side of the river. The second monk complains to the teacher that the first monk broke the rule(of any physical contact with female) by helping her cross the river.
The teacher says that the first monk left the woman at the river bank but you committed the mistake of bringing that woman(mentally) in this hermitage.
Now if your story is a different one then please share it with me.
LOL This is almost exactly the story I was talking about! Now, you puzzled me - where is a hangover here?
Misha- I meant hangover in the sense of mentally carrying that women to the hermitage long after leaving her at the riverbank...LOL
I was pulling your leg since you had all the girly makeover avatar for a long time..hehe
Hehe back :P Got ya finally :)
So I suggest it would be a wise move to leave Obama together with Arcwriter on the riverbank, and move on :)
Either way I am off to bed, good night everybody...
Misha- OK my friend. I will pray for Obama and leave arkwriter's hub at the "river bank"....hehe
hi what a wonderful opinion for some time i was thinking that the americans were magnanimous in chosing a president above race but then ran into a few with funny names and anti sentiments
atleast now i know there are good people and common sense prevails.
What a great Hub Marisue. I have been looking for something that expresses the way I feel about Obama and the current negativity against him. He is really working for the people, a family man, a great communicator, and has a very calm presence. Finally we get someone in the Whitehouse with a vision and a plan.
Eight years was way too long to wait. What a job he has to try and turn this around. I haven't been able to stop grinning since November 4th!
Thanks for this article and looking forward to reading more!
Little by little I am seeing more and more positive hubs about Barack Obama, I hope and pray that everything works out, not only for him but for us also..The more I look at your hubs the more good stuff I find... Here is my Barack Hub....Please tell me what you think. Now you can tell your hubby that you found pubic enemy #1..
Marisuewrites - You are singing my song! Obama looks OK from where I am (the UK). If I had to put up with Bush I wouldn't be labelling his replacement as the anti-Christ.
I thought the American Way was to respect the presidential office regardless of politics. It amazes me that people who call themselves patriots can demonise their next president like this. Good hub!
If you want to see the truth about Obama here is the place to go.

He is not the antichrist that's for certain.
Obama , he is just a man, its scary all the praise being heaped on him though. Lets say our prayers he does a good job in spite of how good or bad he is. We are in trouble, he is not the savior no matter what you think, or what he does. He hasn't done anything yet to prove he deserves all this praise. I hope he turns out to be a great leader, I wish people would get real though. It does concern me this much praise being heaped on a guy, that is really still to prove himself. If nothing else, I hate to see people disappointed, I am hoping they wont be.
Interesting..I've not much to say or add. No spelling errors or grammar issues I've seen, either.
I'm..hmm...displeased with the way our government is going, but Mr. Obama is not the only party to question. Besides, its not all too bad..yet. Hopefully it won't become a yet.

Marisuewrites, well written article. Glad to see that you are here to help with your dust pan. I have written quite a lot of articles on President Obama and I invite you to listen to the video in which the president made light of his first 100 days.
All I can say is wow, I have heard of people like you I just didn't want to believe they existed. I know this was written 7 months ago so maybe you have come to your senses like many others have. No Obama is not the anti christ, no John McCain is not a racist, and Sarah Palin is infinately more qualified than Obama! You remind me of the Black woman interviewed after Obama won the election, she was so happy he was gonna pay her mortgage and put gas in her car. Today is the 4th of July and our founding fathers are looking at our country and wondering what happened, we use to stand for something, we use to be respected, we use to be feared and as a former Marine who has seen combat that is more valuable than being liked. Your President is a confused child getting advice from the kids who use to get beat up on the playground, it seems they spend so much time blaming Bush for this countries problems they missed the fact that their policies are abject failures, unemployment is at 9.5% that is not because of anything Bush did the blame rests solely on the shoulders of Barack Obama! In their rush to pass every Democrat tax and spend policy they are forgetting (or more than- likely just dont care) who has to pay for these things. 03.7% of Americans made over $200,000 in 2007 is 03.7% going to pay for the 787 Billion Dollar stimulus package? How about the Trillion dollar deficit per year for the next 10 years? Healthcare estimated at 1.7 to 5.0 trillion? Here are the numbers below. What is the magic number that will pay for all of this? No Obama is not the antichrist he is just incompetent, and a liar! Your taxes are going up all of our taxes are going up. How is that Hopey/Changey thing working for you?
03.7% made over $200,000 03.9% made $150K to $199,999 11.4% made $100K to $149,999 12.1% made $075K to $099,999 18.8% made $050K to $074,999 16.5% made $035K to $049,999
Had to come back Marisue, I think he is the anti christ. I hate him. I have so much disdain for him like I have never felt before and since I hardly really hate anyone, I think the one thing you are supposed to hate is the mythical creature called the anti christ and he fist it enough for me.
Errr, I hate him, I hate him, I hate!!!
Okay, I feel better now.
Good ole Rip was one of my advisors back in the day. Ya gonna welcome me back, Marisue?

Marisue- Nice hub at an appropriate time. I seriously worry about Obama's safety. Thanks for writing this.
